When Preparation Meets Reality: My Zensar Interview Experience
I spent a month preparing for a hackathon, received an email about 'Java/Python and MySQL Assessment', yet still made assumptions. Here's what happened, the valuable lessons from Rajesh Madhai sir, and why fundamentals and personal responsibility matter most.

A Learning Experience That Changed My Perspective
On February 12, 2026, I appeared for Zensar's assessment in Pune. I didn't clear this round, but I gained something invaluable: insights from Rajesh Madhai sir that will guide my entire career.

The Wisdom from Rajesh Madhai Sir
During the assessment, Rajesh sir shared insights that completely shifted my perspective:
"AI tools enhance developers - they don't replace them. The future belongs to those who understand both fundamentals AND how to leverage AI effectively."
Then came the moment I'll never forget. A candidate answered "C interpreter" instead of "C compiler" when discussing Anthropic's Claude. Sir's response:
"The basics - understanding compilers vs interpreters - haven't gone anywhere. They never will."
That crystallized everything. Fundamentals aren't outdated. They're timeless.
What I Learned About Myself
I spent a month preparing for a hackathon-style assessment based on a blog I'd read. But the night before, I received an email clearly stating: "Java/Python and MySQL Assessment". I convinced myself it meant something else.
The actual assessment? DSA and SQL fundamentals. I struggled - not because the questions were impossible, but because I'd let my basics rust while chasing specialized skills.
My Key Realizations:
- Fundamentals first, always - Frameworks change, basics don't
- Read what's written, not what you hope for - The email was clear, I wasn't listening
- Balance is key - Specialize, but keep your foundation strong
- Mental flexibility matters - Be ready to adapt
What I'm Doing Now
Turning lessons into action:
- Daily DSA practice (1 hour)
- SQL mastery (1 hour)
- Full-stack projects (2 hours)
- Following sir's philosophy: Strong fundamentals + AI literacy
That month of MERN and Flask prep wasn't wasted - it's in my toolkit. Now I'm adding the strong foundation it was missing.
Why Zensar? Why Still?
This experience increased my desire to work at Zensar. Here's why:
1. Leadership That Inspires
Having leaders like Rajesh Madhai sir who balance cutting-edge AI with timeless fundamentals - that's exactly where I want to grow.
2. Culture That Values Substance
Testing DSA and SQL shows Zensar values what truly matters, not just trendy skills.
3. What I'd Bring
- Strengthened fundamentals - DSA & SQL are now daily priorities
- Full-stack capabilities - MERN, Flask, system design
- Growth mindset - This setback taught me to respect what I don't know
- Sir's philosophy - Fundamentals + AI, the winning combination
To Future Candidates
Learn from my experience:
- Master fundamentals: DSA, SQL, core CS concepts
- Read official communications carefully
- Verify info from multiple recent sources
- When leaders share wisdom, listen deeply
- Setbacks teach what success never could
Thank You, Zensar. Thank You, Rajesh Sir.
Thank you for a fair assessment. Thank you for testing what truly matters. Thank you for lessons I'll carry throughout my career.
I didn't clear this round, but I'm not discouraged - I'm energized.
This experience showed me the kind of company Zensar is, the quality of leadership you have, and exactly what I need to improve. I still believe I'd be a great fit at Zensar. With strengthened fundamentals and the right mindset, I hope for another chance to prove it.
To Rajesh sir: Your words about fundamentals being timeless have become my guiding principle. Thank you for taking the time to inspire us.
Working hard, staying hopeful, and ready for the next opportunity.
